This past weekend we decided to do restaurant week in Ambler, PA at a place called Vida and Comida. I will say that this was a completely different dining experience than my last post. The meal from start to finish was very good and definitely worth the money. It is a BYOB that specializes in authentic Spanish cuisine with a modern yet cozy atmosphere. Because it was restaurant they had a pre-fixed menu that you could order from which included an appetizer, entree and dessert which was $45/pp or you could also order from their regular menu. I opted to order from the regular menu only because not everything on the pre-fixed menu was gluten free.
I started with the “Ensalada Betabel” which was a beet salad that included arugula, whipped goat cheese, Marcona almonds with a sherry-honey vinaigrette. Not only was the salad beautifully plated it was delicious. Everything was extremely fresh and all of the ingredients paired well together.
For my entree I decided on the “Pollo y Alubias” which was roasted chicken breast with Spanish white bean, wild mushroom and smoked bacon stew which also came with whipped Yukon potatoes. I will say the chicken was slightly dry but the taste of the dish made up for it. The stew was fantastic and the smokiness of the bacon was a nice touch. Everyone else also enjoyed their meals as well. The other meals ordered was the wine braised short rib and the Paella Marinera.
