Dinner in the City

For my boyfriends birthday we wanted to try a brand new restaurant in the city that we’ve never been to before. After searching on Google there was one place that caught my eye… Panorama Restaurant and Wine Bar. Not only do I love Italian food, but I also love wine so I thought this would be the perfect choice! Its located in the heart of Old City in the Penn’s View Hotel. It offers 120 wines on tap and 30 wine flights, a perfect compliment to any Italian meal.

The restaurant itself has great ambiance and just seeing the vast wine selections was pretty amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many choices in one place, I have to say it was quite overwhelming. I did start with a wine flight of just Cabernet and they give you 5 glasses with about 1.5 ounces each.

The menu did not have any notation of GF options, but our waitress was extremely helpful in letting me know what dishes could be made GF. I started with the Beet Salad as my appetizer which included Chioggia Beets (never had this kind of beet before but they were delicious), Frisee’, Brown Butter Pesto and Blood Orange. It was good, everything was fresh and the pesto was a really good paring with the beets.

For my entree I went with the Braciola. I am not a huge fan of veal but I haven’t had in so long I figured I’d give it a try. It was Veal Skirt Steak, Genovese, Parsley and Broccoli Rabe (all GF). The portion size was good and the meat was extremely tender. All in all it was good. I will warn you that if you do have a bigger appetite some of the portion sizes are a little on the smaller end. My boyfriend got the Tortellini and it definitely was not enough for him, but he did enjoy his. Overall, if your looking for a good selection of wine this is a good place to go.
