I am continuing my vacation journey through Colorado, looking for good GF restaurants. We decided to drive to Durango, Colorado for a pre-birthday dinner for my son. Not very familiar with any restaurants in town, I started searching google for GF places to eat. I came across several options that included Italian food, Mexican and American but decided on a place called Seasons of Durango. Their menu changes with each Season, and they are also a “Farm to Table” which is another reason I selected this place.
The atmosphere was very nice and had a comfortable setting. It was empty when we walked in, but within a half-hour the place was packed. I ordered the special, which was sea bass with a pesto sauce, fresh tomatoes and zucchini, grilled polenta and a garnish of arugula on top. This dish was probably one of the best GF meals that I have ever tasted. I am not a huge fan of fish, but this fish was cooked to perfection. It was mild, flaky and full of flavor.
My mom, who is also GF ordered the Vegetable Crepes which had sugar snap peas, red peppers, mushrooms, mascarpone cheese and was topped with red pepper pumpkin seed pesto. Of course, I had to have a little taste and they were delicious as well. The only negative comment I would have to make about this experience was that out waiter was slow and inattentive. Otherwise, if anyone is visiting near the Durango area I highly recommend this restaurant.
