Besides Italian food being one of my favorite things to eat, I also love Mexican food especially a deliciously fresh guacamole with chips and salsa. To be honest with you I could probably eat/make Mexican food 3 or 4 times a week. There are just so many different things that you can make from Enchiladas, Tacos, Burritos and the list goes on. This weekend instead of making a meal I decided to try a place called Los Sarapes located in Chalfont, PA. They serve authentic Mexican cuisine and also have a tequila bar. When we arrived the place was absolutely packed so it was a good thing we had a reservation. It had a great atmosphere, very cozy and we were seated right away. I do want to mention that the tables are close together and it is very loud but that’s because it was packed with people.
For the appetizer we decided to get the Guacamole Fresco which was fresh avocado, pico de gallo, cilantro and it was served with corn tortilla chips. It was absolutely delicious…super fresh and very flavorful, the chips were yummy as well not greasy. The one negative thing I have to say is that there wasn’t enough! I probably could have just eaten that for my meal and even debated ordering a second one.
Nothing on the menu is labeled gluten free but I picked out a few choices and the manger came over to let me know what was ok to order. I went with Enchiladas which was a corn tortilla rolled with shredded chicken (you can also choose from beef, carnitas or cheese) it came with a side of rice and refried beans. You can also choose from 4 sauces mild tomato, spicy tomato, mole or black bean. I went with the mild sauce. The presentation was nice, the food was delish and they didn’t drown it in a ton of sauce. The portions are a decent size I wasn’t even able to finish my whole meal and I tried stuffing myself as much as I could. It was an excellent meal and I will definitely be going back.
