I apologize, its been a few days since my last post. The past week was a little crazy due to an unforeseen family situation. With that said I haven’t had much time to cook or even take a trip to the grocery store. There isn’t much food left in my fridge, so to make it less stressful we decided to go to a restaurant called Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar in North Wales, PA. It is a local farm to table restaurant whose menu changes with each season. A lot of items that they offer on their menu are below 500 calories and they also offer a ton a gluten free options. Besides offering a lot of GF free options, I also like the fact that they work with local farmers to ensure the freshest ingredients possible.
They are still offering their summer menu which includes a Nutty Watermelon Salad, Seasonal Organic Hummus, Mahi Fish Tacos and Citrus Grilled Halibut just to name a few items. I was starving so I decided to order my own appetizer…Heirloom Tomato and Grilled Peach (gluten free without the Cornbread crouton) which came with Shaved Fennel, Whipped Lemon Ricotta, Cucumber, Basil Oil and Heirloom Tomato Vinaigrette. It was really good and perfect for a warm summer night. The tomatoes were juicy and flavorful and the grilled peaches paired nicely with the tomatoes and ricotta cheese. I cleared my plate!
For my entree I went with the Taco Quinoa bowl GF which included Kale, Pasilla-Braised Red Pea, Heirloom Tomato, Avocado, Black Bean and Corn Salsa, Bell Peppers, Sliced Radishes and a Lime Dressing with Vegan Sour Cream. Everything paired so nicely with each other, and the Braised Red Peas were probably my favorite part of the bowl. They had such a great flavor and it was one of the best bowls I have eaten! I was extremely happy with my meal and I can’t wait to go back for their fall menu.
